Mooncool TK2 vs TK2 PRO: What the Extra $500 Actually Buys You (2026)

Same 450 lb frame, same folding design, same top speed — but $500 apart. Here is exactly what changes between the Mooncool TK2 and the TK2 PRO, and which one is the smarter buy for how you actually ride.

The short answer

The TK2 is $1,499.99 (Mooncool lists it down from $2,099.99). The TK2 PRO is $1,999.99 (down from $2,599.99). That $500 buys you exactly two things that matter: more battery and more motor. Everything else — the folding frame, the 450 lb load rating, the 15.5 mph top speed, the rider-height range, the warranty — is the same trike.

What the extra motor actually feels like

90 Nm versus 65 Nm of peak torque is roughly a 38% increase in pulling force. You will not notice it cruising a flat bike path — both hit the same 15.5 mph. You will notice it in three places: starting from a dead stop on an incline, climbing a sustained hill, and doing either of those with a loaded rear basket. If your neighbourhood is flat and you carry light loads, the TK2's 65 Nm is genuinely enough.

What the extra battery actually means

Mooncool rates the PRO's 48V 20Ah pack at up to 100 miles versus up to 75 for the TK2. Treat the top of those ranges as best case — flat ground, low assist, light rider. The honest way to read them is the bottom of each range: 35 miles for the TK2, 45 for the PRO. For most people, that is the difference between charging twice a week and charging once.

The trade-off nobody mentions: weight

The PRO is about 9 lb heavier (~99 lb vs ~90 lb). Neither is a trike you lift into a car trunk alone — both fold, but folding a 90–99 lb machine is about getting it through a door or into an RV bay, not about carrying it. If storage space is tight, the folded footprint is identical on both, so this is not a reason to pick one over the other.

Which should you buy?

What is identical (so do not let it sway you)

Both are Class 2, both cap at 15.5 mph, both take a 450 lb load, both fit riders 5'0"–6'3", both carry Mooncool's lifetime frame / 2-year battery / 1-year parts warranty, and both have integrated turn signals and a brake light. Spec sheets make these look like different tiers of trike. Structurally, they are the same trike with a bigger engine and tank.

Frequently asked questions

Is the TK2 PRO worth $500 more than the TK2?

It is if you ride hills or carry heavy loads — the PRO has 90 Nm of peak torque versus 65 Nm, and 45–100 miles of range versus 35–75. On flat ground with light loads, the TK2 does the same job at the same 15.5 mph top speed and the same 450 lb capacity.

Do the TK2 and TK2 PRO carry the same weight?

Yes. Both are rated for a 450 lb maximum load. The extra money buys motor and battery, not capacity.

Are both models foldable?

Yes, both fold. But at roughly 90 lb (TK2) and 99 lb (TK2 PRO), folding is for fitting through a door or into an RV — not for lifting into a car by yourself.

How long do they take to charge?

Mooncool lists 6–8 hours for both. The TK2 PRO additionally supports a 5A fast-charger option.
